Back in the closing months of 1991, an idea was born that has led up to what you see here today. After almost nine years, seven hundred articles, and seven other things that are probably appropriate but I can't think of now, Project Galactic Guide remains a freely accessible, contributor-based attempt to gather up slightly tongue-in-cheek articles about all things real and imagined. You won't find boring encyclopedia entries here, but rather humorous takes on the world as we know it (and a few on the world as we don't know it) written by amateur writers all around the world.

Do have a look at the archives, have a chuckle, and if you feel so inclined, visit the newsgroup, get involved. Who knows, perhaps you'll write an article. Perhaps we'll accept it. Perhaps some large publishing company will see your article and immediately offer you a $10 million book deal. Okay, so maybe there's no history of that -- but there's always a first time for everything!
